It’s that time of year…the flu bug has begun and it will be in full swing soon. Avoiding the flu can be challenging during its peak months from December through February, but including the following steps in your daily life can help boost your immune system and help to ward off the flu bug.

See your Chiropractor
Studies have shown time and time again that chiropractic care helps boost your immune system and promotes all around wellness.

Eat a Healthy Diet
A healthy diet loaded with vitamin rich foods is a great way to naturally decrease your chances of catching the flu. Pass on the sweets and go for the fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Wash your Hands Often
Good hygiene is a must in the prevention of spreading the flu! Be sure to wash your hands frequently – especially after contact with others and visiting areas with high traffic – with soap and warm water for at least 15 seconds. Keep your hands away from your nose, mouth and eyes since the flu bug travels quickly and easily through these areas on the face. Also, avoid sharing cups and utensils with others.

Catch some Sunshine
Sunshine is a natural source of vitamin D which was used to treat infections long before the use of modern day antibiotics. If sunshine is hard to find during the winter months, eating cheese, eggs, salmon and other fatty fish are all great sources of vitamin D.
